I've been writing about jazz since 1970 and I'm still at it.

About Me

Peter Occhiogrosso began his writing career as a jazz reviewer and interviewer for publications including Down Beat, Village Voice, Melody Maker, and Swing Journal (Japan), and as Music Editor for Manhattan’s Soho Weekly News during the 1970s and ‘80s. Since then he has written books on spirituality and a popular guide to world religions, The Joy of Sects. He has also coauthored Frank Zappa’s autobiography (“The Real Frank Zappa Book”) and Michael Feinstein’s memoir, “Nice Work if You Can Get It.”He has also worked with archetypal expert and with self-help guru Caroline Myss, and yoga master Mark Whitwell. Three of the books Peter coauthored have become New York Times Best Sellers.

He wrote the text for Grit and Glamour: The Street Style, High Fashion, and Legendary Music of the 1970s, with photographs by Allan Tannenbaum, to be published in October 2016 by Insight Editions of California.
