About Me

Mark's 2015 album “Crazy Moon” was played on 115 jazz stations worldwide and spent four months on the JazzWeek charts, and was named one of the top 15 releases of the year by Jazz History Online.

His new release “Music in the Air” drops on May 23rd, 2022 with arrangements by Jamieson Trotter - Jamieson on piano, Mike Gurrola on bass, Kevin Winard, drums, and Larrry Koonse guitar and Danny Janklow, sax. ”Dreamer With a Penny” came out in 2000, featuring Page Cavanaugh, Joyce Collins and Jane Getz, and “Together” with pianist/vocalist Betty Bryant came out in 2012.

As a booker and promoter, Mark has programmed music for the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, Jazz Alley in Seattle, Blues Alley in Washington, DC, the Dubai International Jazz Festival, as well as top luxury hotels and nightclubs throughout Southern California. He completed the music programs at Los Angeles City College and studied piano privately with Jane Getz and Joyce Collins, and performs occasionally at the keyboard. He is a board member of the Los Angeles Jazz Society, where he is active in their youth education programs, and in response to the pandemic, helped launch Los Angeles Jazz Society Presents, a series of live streaming concerts that provided paid gigs for jobbing musicians. He works with Corniche Entertainment to book and promote popular bandleader Louie Cruz Beltran.

In addition to his behind the scenes works, Miller performs regularly in Los Angeles and Seattle, and made his New York debut at Midday Jazz Midtown at historic St. Peter's church in Manhattan.

I love all music, but jazz appeals to me as a combination of form and improvisation—which to me makes it the quintessential American art form. You work within a form, yet you have tremendous freedom within the form.
