Energetic acoustic jazz by a supergroup led by American drum hero Nasheet Waits, a protégé of Max Roach and a core member of Jason Moran's Bandwagon.

Nasheet Waits followed in the footsteps of his father, legendary jazz drummer Freddie Waits. At the request of his other important mentor, Max Roach, he became part of the unique percussion ensemble M'BOOM, proving his extraordinary talent performing with star players such as Tony Williams and Ginger Baker. Later on he joined the Andrew Hill Quartet, co-founded The Bandwagon together with pianist Jason Moran and played in Charles Lloyd's quartet.

At the BIMHUIS the New York-raised drummer performed with his Equality Quartet. The recent album Between Nothingness and Infinity includes original compositions by the band leader Waits and double bassist Mark Helias alongside works by Charlie Parker, Andrew Hill and Sam Rivers. For his concert at the BIMHUIS, Nasheet brought bassist Eric Revis.

Personnel: Jason Yarde: saxophone; Abel Marcel Calderon: piano; Eric Revis: bass; Nasheet Waits: drums.
