Every now and then, a musician comes along out of nowhere and blows one's unprepared mind. Such is the case with the Brazilian saxophonist, flautist and composer Vinícius Mendes. Based in Belo Horizonte, Mendes began recording, it transpires, in 2013 and has since been a face on the city's jazz-samba scene. His recordings under his own name have been few.
