Bruna Black
Bruna Black is a singer and songwriter, born in Diadema, São Paulo. She started singing in church as a child. At 18, she graduated in popular singing at ETEC School in São Paulo, a year later she entered the Escola Municipal de Música, where she studied classical singing for four years, after which she signed with independent record label Sigo Som, and released the singles “Casa Clam” and “Nua E Crua”.
At the age of 20, she joined the State Youth Choir and released two more singles. In 2020, as the world struggled to deal with a pandemic, she participated in THE VOICE BRASIL, where she reached the quarter-finals.
She joined fellow The Voice participant Jota.Pê to form ÀVUÀ duo, reaching immense popularity in Brazil, with millions of views for their videos on YouTube, and sold out shows across the country.
After the popular impact of their single “Conte Comigo”, the duo was selected to participate in the album "Onze," with 11 new songs by Adoniran Barbosa, sung by several renowned artists including Elza Soares, Zeca Baleiro, Rubel, and Zé Ibarra. The album was nominated for a 2022 Latin Grammy.
In 2023, producer Emilio D. Miler asked Bruna to be the voice for Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated composer John Finbury's latest collection of Brazilian Jazz songs, Vã Revelação ("Vain Revelation"). The album was recorded at The Powerstation in New York City later that year, with a stellar band featuring guitarist Chico Pinheiro, bassist John Patitucci, Vitor Gonçalves on piano, Rhodes and Accordion, legendary drummer Duduka Da Fonseca, and percussionist Rogério Boccato.
Vã Revelação was released on May 14, 2024, and will have its release party and show on June 26 at the Blue Note São Paulo.
