All About Jazz is an incredible phenomenon! On one level it is a huge data base of jazz, fostering the development of the music
and musicians. On another level, it is a worldwide community of people brought together with a common love for jazz.
Mike, it's been a pleasure for me to interact with you and some other wonderful people over the years, and to try to put into
words my experience of the music and musicians. Thank you for these precious gifts.
All About Jazz is a great repository of jazz related information. It also
allows musicians a way to get discovered and jazz lovers to discover new
music.
Congratulations, Michael! To you and all the others who have contributed into the development of AAJ into what it is today.
The work you've put into developing AAJ has been monumental
and very important to the jazz industry. It's a great achievement
and something to really proud of.
A few years back, I was cleaning out some old paper files and found
a page with a bunch of sites and emails. One of the websites was
the original site that turned into CDBaby, and one of the emails was
for a Michael Ricci at some jazz related thing that I don't remember
but I'm sure sparked AAJ.
I'm coming up on 25 years for my show next May and so what if we pat ourselves on the back for our accomplishments.
As a newcomer to Jazz, I really appreciate how the site introduces
me to music. The album reviews and interviews/articles are very
useful. I like the song of the week because this has enabled me
to explore new releases by practicing artist more thoroughly.
The weekly mail is a good reminder to go back and visit the site.
Many congratulations due on ALL fronts relating to jazz!
You have overcome many tech issues( and continue to), created a fantastic resource and career-changing outlet for musicians, offered new
and seasoned writers(like myself) a space to express their appreciation and passion for all things jazz and more…
Happy Birthday AllAboutJazz!!
May there be many more.
